Sony Reader vs Amazon Kindle

Sony Reader vs Amazon Kindle

Gizmodo have compared the Sony Reader to the newly unveiled Amazon Kindle. The two products are very similar even though I prefer the design of the Sony Reader the Amazon Kindle seems to be the easier one to use. The article is quite limited and not full-blown reviews of the two readers.

For the picky pirate

pickypirate.com

I haven’t heard of any really successfull mashups that are illegal but Pickypirate.com will probably get a letter or two from Hollywood lawyers. The concept is quite interesting: they have created a mashup between two bittorrent sites Piratebay and Mininova with two review sites: Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic to create top lists of music, games and movies that have got the best reviews.

Rock band - unboxing

Rock band - unboxing

The Rock band is one of the most expensive games to ever hit the market but at least you get some real estate for your money - for the $169 you will get a drum set, a guitar, a microphone and a USB hub. A quite nice approach to prevent illegal copying isn’t it? Here’s some pictures from Engadgets holy unboxing ceremony.

Optimus - for real

Optimus keyboard from Art Lebedev

I just did a search for ‘Optimus’ within my old posts and found out that I have written 15 posts about the Optimus keyboard from Art Lebedev. It has gone so far that it has become a joke - will the keyboard ever hit the market? Today was a big breakthrough as the Wired store in Soho, New York city got a keyboard and both Engadget and Gizmodo have been there and published a story about the really cool but ridiculously expensive keyboard ($1500). If you are in a hurry be sure to check out Gizmodo’s 30 second clip.

Gutted 360 returned to store

Xbox 360

I guess this guy needed spare parts for his Xbox 360 because he gutted the shell completely and went to his local store where he bought the machine and returned it and got a full refund. That is crazy, I wonder how common this type of fraud is

Awesome photo of Pigeon Point

Awesome photo of Pigeon Point Lighthouse

I was totally stunned by this shot of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse in San Mateo County, California south of San Francisco. Apparently you can only take this kind of photo once a year when they turn on 5 kerosene lamps and fresnel lens of the original as the lighthouse used 135 years ago. Amazing shot.

Budget lens from Nikon with VR

The race in the budget- and mid segment D-SLR cameras is very tight, and if you can’t compete with higher resolution you can compete with better features like vibration reduction. Nikon’s VR system affords users the ability to take pictures at shutter speeds up to three stops slower than they ordinarily could shoot without the image-degrading blur caused by camera shake at slow shutter speeds.

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens will be available beginning December 2007 at an estimated selling price of $199.

Please note that the image above features a different Nikon lens than the NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens.

Amazon Kindle

Amazon Kindle

Today Amazon unveiled the very exciting new product that has been given the name Kindle. It is a thin display with high resolution which is meant to be used to read books, blogs, newspapers and magazines. I think this one will be a big success (at least in the US) mainly because of two reasons. First of all it’s just because of the fact that it is Amazon who is launching the product. They have got power, influence and superior relationship with end customers and the big media companies.
