Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 - review

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18

Photographyblog.com have been playing around with Panasonics new megazoom camera DMC-FZ18. The camera features a massive 18x zoom lens - the equivalent of having a 28 mm - 504 zoom lens on - which makes it a camera that can shoot almost any picture. The camera is suitable for those of you who want to shoot advanced pictures but still not want to take the full leap and go for a DLSR. The camera got a nice review - 4.5 out of 5. Check it out.

Gaming gift guide 2007

PS3 vs XBOX 360

Ars Technica have put together a nice gaming gift guide containing a hardware overview and a brief description of the most popular games. The only thing I really missed was the Crysis game on the PC page - that is the the game I would pick on the PC side but other than that it’s a great guide. Check it out.

The NES-PC

The NES-PC

This isn’t the first time someone has tried to build a PC into an old gaming console, but the end result in this PC built into an old Nintendo one is pretty good. You can even use the old original joysticks to control the games running the Nintendo emulator. Cool. The equipment is up for grabs on an eBay auction in France.

Amazon Kindle gutted

Gutted Amazon Kindle

Rapid Repair has taken the unboxing experience to the extreme and spent some time unboxing an Amazon Kindle to the max. I think it’s quite interesting to see how new gadgets actually look on the inside, what do you think? Oh, I almost forgot: don’t try this at home…

Apple developing mini-disc adapter

Apple developing mini-disc adapter

Apple have patented an adapter that makes the smaller 8 cm sized discs compatible with slot in drives. I’m not sure why they need to ship smaller discs, but if they want to include software on CDs even in small packages like the new iPod nano box this can be an alternative. The patent was filed in May of 2006.

iPhone with 3G confirmed

iPhone with 3G will be unveiled during 2008

This will not come as a surprise to anyone but today the CEO of AT&T confirmed that Apple will unveil an iPhone with 3G during the next year. He didn’t say when or give any hot extra details but my guess is that the iPhone 3G will be available in the second quarter of 2008.

Optimus Maximus in cheaper forms

Optimus Maximus now with fewer active displays

All articles I have read about the incredibly cool keyboard Optimus Maximus has mentioned it’s extremely high price of $1500. The creator behind the keyboard Art Lebedev have been listening and now they have introduced 4 new versions of the keyboard where the pricing is based on the amount of active displays. The cheapest one will cost you $463 but it only features 1 active button, the model with 10 active buttons will cost you $599 and the 47 button version will cost you $1000. To get the full version with 113 active keys you still have to pay $1500…

New Star Wars mimobots

Luke Skywalker mimobot

Mimobots are a series of popular USB-drives from mimoco. In April this year they started selling a couple of USB-drives based on the popular Star Wars characters Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Stormtrooper and R2-D2. They have been extremely popular and for instance the Darth Vader drive is totally sold out (all of them are limited edition items). Now mimoco is about to launch 4 new models based on Princess Leia, Han Solo, Boba Fett and Luke Skywalker. The drives will be available in 1GB ($50), 2GB ($70) and 4GB versions ($110) starting in January/February 2008.

Samsung Membership concept

Samsung membership concept by Syntes Studio

It is quite obvious that Syntes Studio used some of their ideas from their Samsung Membershio concept when they created the O2 Cocoon but it’s still an extremely cool phone. More photos after the jump.
