Santa Rosa MacBook - review

Santa Rosa MacBook - review

Ars Technica has just published a nice 4-page review of the new MacBook featuring the new Santa Rosa chipset. The most interesting part is page 3 where they have done a lot of benchmarks with the MacBook and a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro - quite small differences in most areas except OpenGL performance that stinks on the MacBook.

New Google GUI for iPhone

New Google GUI for iPhone

Today Google launched a new graphical user interface for their services when you access them via an iPhone or an iPod touch. I have tried it briefly and it works much better than before - especially if you use several G-services like I do. The search engine, Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Reader can all be accessed by just tapping the top menu. Well done.

I just tried the new editing functionality over at Flickr.com and it works much better than I expected. The new functionality comes from the small company Picnik and it’s almost like having a Photoshop light in your browser. Nice!

Ultra portable MacBook in January?

Current MacBook

It is over a month to go until Steve Jobs enters the stage in San Francisco but the rumor mill is working hard - as usual when there is a big Apple keynote scheduled. The hottest and most reliable rumor so far is that Mr Jobs will unveil a new ultra portable MacBook featuring a 13.3 inch screen. I’m hoping for a fatter iPhone with at least 16GB and hopefully 32GB plus built-in 3G.

Xbox 360 - now with support for XviD

Today Microsoft released a patch for the Xbox 360 dashboard (full details) and along with several new features we finally got support for XviD and DivX movie files. Another nice (well, I guess some kids will hate this one) is the new family timer which let you configure how many hour per day or per week anyone can play without knowing the correct admin code.

20 nice iPod applications

Lifehackers has just published a nice list of the 20 best iPod utilities. I found at least one application that I haven’t heard of before, the MP3 to iPod Audio Book Converter which helps you convert an audio book to the specific iPod audiobook format (M4B) that features like playback speed adjustment. Check it out.
