LCD HDTV from Bang & Olufsen

Bang & Olufsen launched this innovative LCD HDTV (720p) for the US market at CES. For this cutting edge manufacturer an “entry level” price point starts at $3950.00… well, that’s certainly less than the 8 K for the other HDTV in this line… The design is extremely innovative with the possibility to place this TV anywhere in a house: on a stand, on a TV bench, on a table and even on the floor, which might appeal to the younger audience they are trying to target.

Many flat-screen television produce a flat sound, so designer David Lewis created the Orchestra Pit feature, in order to “move the sound forward and up like in a real orchestra pit”. Basically, the bass cabinet in front of the screen containing a down facing bass speaker provides a firm foundation for movies and music while the 2 front units are tuned specifically for the reproduction of the human voice. I had a demo at the company suite at CES, and the sound is very good and has more relief than regular LCD TV units.

BeoVision 8 will be available in all Bang & Olufsen showrooms by February 2008. MSRP $3950.00.
