Sony Ericssons new GUI?
There is no information available about where Gearfuse got these photos from, so they can be from just some random guys mobile development presentation - but it can also be a photo of what they say it is: Sony Ericssons upcoming iPhone inspired new graphical user interface. If you would ask me I’ll say that it’s a bit too iPhoneish to be the real thing.
Halloween costume 2.0
Kudos to this guy who has created a really cool Halloween costume without spending too many $. He’s going as a YouTube clip! Brilliant idea.
Panasonic DMP-BD30
The DMP-BD30 is a brand new slim-line $499.95 blu-ray player from Panasonic. It features all the new goodies such as deep color compability, HDMI 1.3B, a SD Memory Card slot for playback of high definition content recorded in the AVCHD format. And the good news is that this baby will be out in just a couple of weeks (at least if you live in the US and Asia). I can’t wait to unbox one of these. More photos and press release inside.
Pirate bay to launch it’s own protocol
The guys behind The Pirate Bay spend a lot of time working with the replacement protocol for the world’s most popular file sharing protocol - bittorrent. The protocal has the working name secure-p2p and will most probably be a nightmare for anti-piracy organizations when the protocol hits the market. The first public launch is planned to take place early next year.
Smoke Glass dock
Here’s a nice little mini-hack that gives you a nicer smoked glass dock in Leopard. It’s very easy to implement (and uninstall if you don’t like it) - simply exchange 4 image files and restart the application.
PolyStation 3 - review
Have you ever heard of the PolyStation 3? Well, neither have I. But apparently they Poly guys have been busy the last couple of years releasing both a Polystation 2 and a Portable Polystation. Here’s a lovely video review of the totally crappy PolyStation 3.
$800 big screen projector
I wouldn’t even come up with the idea of building a big screen projector by using a lamp, a reflector and a LCD screen, but apparently it works pretty good - and it’s cheap too. But you got to know what you’re doing and I would guess that most of us are better of buying a proper LCD projector.
Fastest Vista machine is a Mac
I just had to mention this short article over at PC World: out of all the Vista laptops they have tried so far, the fastest one was a MacBook Pro - hilarious, isn’t it?
The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year–or for that matter, ever–is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware. The $2419 (plus the price of a copy of Windows Vista, of course) MacBook Pro’s PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats Gateway’s E-265M by a single point
Student behind iPod Touch commercial
When Apple started brainstorming about the new commercial for their newest member in the iPod family - the iPod touch - someone got the brilliant idea to use the work by the young student Nick Haley who created a really good iPod touch commercial at home using just his MacBook and Final Cut Pro. Apple’s final version is very close to Nicks’s original version, so I wouldn’t call it a long shot saying that Nick Haley has a bright future in the marketing industry.
OS X Leopard - live blog
Gizmodo is well known for doing great live blogs from major gadgetosphere events like Steve Jobs keynotes. But as far as I know they have never been live blogging while they are checking out a product. Anyway today they did a liveblog of their first hour with the Mac OS X Leopard. The event is over but you can check out the log.
