PX-3600 Clone Amalgamation
Story posted on: January 31, 2008
Check out the PX-3600 console that hails from where else but China. It probably needs to see a shrink as it can't decide on whether it wants to be an Xbox, a PS2, a PS3, or even something totally revolutionary. Chances are near non-existent that it will be able to handle current or even past gen console games, but ought not to have any problem with titles from the 8- and 16-bit eras. You will be able to run your own shady clone console shop only if you order a thousand of these or more, although I'm not too sure just how many customers you will get.

Clone Alert! Wi Vision
Story posted on: January 18, 2008
The Wi Vision is yet another clone video game console that aims to ride on the popularity of Nintendo's hugely successful Wii. It comes in black complete with red lines accentuating the surface of the Vision, and you get extremely poor specs such as :-
- 240 x 240 resolution
- 64-color capacity
- NES compatibility
- 106-game cartridge included
- Wireless controllers (presumably IR-based)

iPod nano clone gets Click Wheel
Story posted on: January 03, 2008
Looks like the iPod nano (2nd gen) has not yet broken the shackles of piracy as Chinese manufacturers have managed to clone it yet again, and this time featuring an actual Click Wheel clone as well! The user interface also looks more polished, although you shouldn't expect anything of Cupertino's standard. When will the third generation iPod nano receive the clone treatment, fake Click Wheel and all? It is only a matter of time I guess.

More iPod clones abound
Story posted on: December 31, 2007
To usher in the New Year, here's more shots of iPod clones that clearly suffer from a bad case of low self-esteem. Note the need to print the word "iPod" right under the displays? Needless to say, the one of the right is (ironically) the more authentic clone. Guess 2008 still won't be the end of iPod clones. These fake iPods can be found in Hanoi, Vietnam (and no doubt other countries where piracy rates remain high), retailing for approximately $40 a pop after conversion for 1GB of storage space. These aren’t Click Wheels that you see, as they’re just regular buttons shaped after Apple’s Click Wheel format.

Samsung F300 Upstage Clone
Story posted on: December 26, 2007
Watching the steady stream of Clones coming from China is an endless entertainment (at least when you don’t make the original phones…). This phone is (heavily) inspired form the Samsung F300 also called “Upstage” at Sprint. The clone works on the same principle: one side is a phone and the other side is an MP3 player.
The manufacturing quality of this clone doesn’t match the Samsung F300 one, but the Chinese version improves upon two weaknesses of the F300: the phone screen is bigger and it uses a scroll wheel. [uberphones via PMPtoday]

An Alienware PMP? Not really…
Story posted on: December 17, 2007
The DV MP4 is a Chinese portable media player (PMP) that uses the Alienware brand without complex… or rights. Yes, this is another post that will be filed in the “clones” category. There’s nothing else to be said about this player, except for the specs:
- MP3, WMA music files
- AVI video format (which sub-codecs, I don’t know)
- 2.4” display
- FM Radio
- SD slot
- Digital camera (1.3MP)

Optimus Touch clone
Story posted on: December 12, 2007
The Optimus Touch is the closest iPod Touch clone to date - it even features extremely similar icons and music navigation that could fool some folks at first glance. In addition, you get other features common in low cost players such as a miniSD memory card slot, an integrated microphone, a 1.3 megapixel camera, DivX and XviD compatibility at 24 fps, and a 2.8" touchscreen display. The Optimus Touch will probably lose out on Apple's patented multi-touch input, so no points in that department. You can pick up this clone for $109 - that's nearly $200 off the actual iPod Touch's price.

HTC Touch Clone with GPS
Story posted on: December 04, 2007
Named SSG730, this GSM phone is a clone of the HTC Touch, currently sold by Sprint in the U.S. Obviously, it differs from the Sprint version because the SSG730 is a GSM world phone, but also because it has an integrated Sirf III GPS Chip, and a fingerprint reader.
It runs on Windows Mobile 5 and a variant with WiFi exists, but the only issue is that it is sold from China only by quantities of 1000 or more. If you want one, you’ll have to convince a lot of friends to get one too.
